Radley College is seeking kind, calm and reliable Healthcare Assistant to provide overnight, on-call support for pupils with diabetes.
This role is ideal for someone who values compassionate care and is comfortable working independently while being part of a supportive, close-knit team.
You do not need to have all the experience already - full training and guidance will be provided. What matters most to us is your approach: reassuring , attentive, and committed to children's wellbeing.
What the role is like:
- You will be onsite overnight, responding if a pupil needs help with diabetes care or reassurance
- You will follow clear healthcare plans and work closely with the school's nursing team and boarding staff
- Most nights are quiet, but your presence provides essential peace of mind for pupils and parents.
- You will hand over to day staff in the morning, knowing you've helped keep pupils safe and well
Hours and Working Pattern
- 8.30pm to 7.30am (sleepover time from 10.30pm to 6.30am)
- Night Duty, on call, covering 7 nights per week on a job share basis
- Term time only
- Overnight presence on site with designated rest facilities provided
This role requires a caring attitude, organisational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
Essential:
- Experience working in a healthcare, residential or pastoral care setting
- Understanding of Diabetes management or willingness to undertake full training
- Calm, reliable and confident when responding to medical needs overnight
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong communication and record keeping skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable:
- Healthcare Qualification (NVQ level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent)
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with diabetes
- Experience in a boarding school, residential school or similar environment
