Opening in August 2026, The Lyon is an exciting new gastropub and late-night destination located in the heart of Edinburgh's George Street.
With exceptional food at its core, a premium drinks offering, live music and a vibrant atmosphere, The Lyon aims to become one of the city's most exciting hospitality venues. We are looking for hardworking Kitchen Porters to join our opening team and play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly from day one.
As a Kitchen Porter at The Lyon, you will be an essential part of the kitchen team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation and hygiene are maintained throughout service. This is a hands on role that requires a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail and a willingness to support the chefs wherever needed to help deliver an exceptional food offering.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise all kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils efficiently throughout service
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and the safe storage of food and equipment
- Empty bins and ensure waste is disposed of correctly in line with company procedures
- Support the chefs with basic food preparation when required
- Ensure all cleaning schedules are completed to a high standard
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures
- Work closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working as a Kitchen Porter is preferred but not essential
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- A willingness to learn and support the kitchen team wherever required
- A genuine passion for hospitality and being part of a successful team
