We’re looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Harbour & Company in Donaghadee.
This is a key senior position for a chef who enjoys being hands-on in a busy kitchen but is also ready to take responsibility for the wider operation — supporting the Head Chef, leading the team during service and helping us maintain consistently high standards across food, people and kitchen organisation.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef and management team, you will:
● Take a leading role in day-to-day kitchen operations
● Run busy services confidently in the Head Chef’s absence
● Lead, motivate and support the kitchen team
● Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control
● Assist with menu development, specials and seasonal dishes
● Support ordering, stock control, wastage management and food-cost targets
● Help manage kitchen rotas and staffing levels
● Train and develop junior chefs
● Maintain excellent food hygiene, HACCP, health & safety and cleaning standards
● Work closely with the front-of-house management team to deliver smooth, well-organised services
● Help create a positive, professional kitchen culture
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from someone who:
● Has experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie ready to progress
● Is confident leading a kitchen and managing a busy service
● Has strong organisational and communication skills
● Understands food costs, stock control and kitchen profitability
● Takes pride in consistency and attention to detail
● Can develop and support younger members of the kitchen team
● Wants to be part of a well-established local hospitality business
Hours & Working Pattern
45-hour working week
We believe senior kitchen roles need to be sustainable, so the position is structured around a defined working week rather than an expectation of endless additional hours.
Rotas are planned in advance, with a fair working pattern and proper time away from the kitchen.
Salary
£36,000–£40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Staff Benefits
As part of the team, you’ll receive:
● Staff meals while on duty
● Staff discount across our venues
● Pension
● Holiday entitlement
● Training and opportunities for professional development
● Opportunities to progress within an established local hospitality group
● A defined 45-hour working week
● Advance rota planning
● Supportive senior management and an experienced wider team
We’re looking for someone who wants to put their stamp on a kitchen, develop their team and play an important role in the continued success of Harbour & Company.
