Inspire Learning Beyond the Classroom
Friends of Frampton Farm CIC is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our education team.
Based on our 26-acre working farm, you'll deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire children and young people through animals, nature and practical activities.
This is far more than a classroom role. Every day is different as you teach learners in a real working farm environment, helping them develop confidence, independence, practical skills and nationally recognised qualifications.
Our learners include home educated children, students with SEND and SEMH needs, young people accessing alternative provision, and learners working towards City & Guilds Entry Level to Level 2 qualifications.
The Role
You will deliver or support a variety of engaging sessions, including:
- City & Guilds Animal Care, Horticulture and Land-Based Studies (Entry Level to Level 2)
- Outdoor learning for home educated children
- Farm-based enrichment sessions for schools
- Alternative Provision programmes for learners with SEND and SEMH
- Practical animal care, horticulture and land based activities
- Seasonal farm projects and learning
- Supporting learners to develop employability, independence and life skills
You'll work closely with our education team to provide a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment where every learner can achieve success.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver inspiring practical and theory-based lessons.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual learner needs.
- Support learners working towards City & Guilds qualifications, AQA Unit Award Scheme.
- Deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences linked and unlinked to the curriculum.
- Encourage confidence, teamwork, resilience and independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure high standards of animal welfare, health and safety, and safeguarding.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments during practical activities.
- Monitor learner progress and contribute to assessments and learner records.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, carers and partner schools.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or is a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
- Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
- Is passionate about outdoor learning and hands-on education.
- Can confidently manage behaviour using a calm, positive approach.
- Enjoys working in a practical environment where no two days are the same.
- Is organised, adaptable and works well as part of a team.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to transport.
Desirable
- Experience delivering vocational land based qualifications.
- Knowledge of animal care, agriculture, horticulture or land-based studies.
- Forest School, Outdoor Learning or Duke of Edinburgh experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Safeguarding training.
Hours
Minimum of 21 hours per week (term-time only), with the opportunity for additional hours and the potential to progress to a full-time position following a successful probationary period. Optional paid hours may also be available during the school holidays, after school and Saturdays.
