Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychologist to join our team on a fixed term basis for one year, with a potential extension. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, particularly with adults and individuals with mental health. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions to support the mental health and well-being of clients. The Psychologist will also engage in clinical research to contribute to the advancement of psychological practices.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Contributing to multidisciplinary discussions (MDT) about a client's diagnosis, treatment, risk assessment and care plan issues
- Undertaking specified behavioural observations and assessments
- Seeking and acquiring specific information by reading notes, investigating histories etc.
- Carrying out specified treatment and intervention programmes with clients or groups of clients, and facilitating group programmes
- Working with client's carers, relatives and others involved in their care including mental health workers,
- Researching and gathering information
- Preparing/administering psychological tests and assessments
- Observing and recording behavioural observations
- Behaviour chain analysis, developing formulations, and personal behaviour plans
- Support delivery of evidence-based interventions (e.g. CBT-informed work)
- Facilitate group therapy sessions
- Contribute to care plans and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Support service audits and outcome monitoring
- Manage caseload under supervision
- Organise appointments, referrals, and engage in multi-agency collaboration
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with adults, particularly those with mental health.
- Strong skills in patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards clients.
- Familiarity with clinical research methodologies is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
