Wolston Alliance Chemist is a busy pharmacy providing NHS and private services to the community. We dispense a high volume of prescriptions and support patients with a wide range of services, including repeat prescriptions, NHS services, blood pressure checks, contraception services, Pharmacy First and other developing pharmacy services.
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and hard-working Level 3 Apprentice Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
We are ideally looking for someone who already has some previous pharmacy, dispensing or healthcare experience and wants to progress into a professional Pharmacy Technician role. However, full training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in pharmacy. You will work under the supervision of the Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, ACT and dispensary team while completing the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship.
The role will involve learning all areas of community pharmacy, including dispensing, stock control, patient communication, NHS services and preparation of medication compliance aids, including MDS trays.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Dispensing prescriptions accurately and safely under supervision.
- Labelling and assembling prescriptions.
- Preparing and supporting the checking process for MDS trays / medication compliance aids.
- Ordering, receiving and putting away pharmacy stock.
- Managing owings, part-supplies and prescription queries.
- Supporting repeat prescription requests and prescription processing.
- Communicating professionally with patients, GP surgeries, care homes and other healthcare professionals.
- Supporting the Pharmacist, ACT and dispensary team with the daily workflow.
- Using the pharmacy PMR system, scanners and other pharmacy software.
- Helping to keep the dispensary clean, organised and safe.
- Following pharmacy SOPs, company policies and legal/professional requirements.
- Supporting NHS and private pharmacy services as your training develops.
- Completing all apprenticeship coursework, training sessions and assessments on time.
- Carrying out any reasonable duties requested by the Pharmacist, line manager or pharmacy management team to improve patient care and pharmacy services.

Previous pharmacy or dispensing experience is strongly preferred, especially experience with prescriptions, stock, patient queries or MDS trays. However, attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are essential.
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Eligibility to enrol onto a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship.
- Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship programme.
- Must already have the legal right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Previous community pharmacy experience.
- Previous dispensing experience.
- Experience preparing or supporting MDS trays / compliance aids.
- Experience using a pharmacy PMR system.
- Customer service or healthcare experience.
