We are looking for an ambitious Paralegal to join our Commercial Litigation team in Southampton.
Our Southampton Commercial Litigation team is led by Partners Owen Williams and Cathy Harris. Consistently ranked highly in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, our team have considerable experience in resolving disputes across a wide range of industries and sectors.
What we do and your role in the team
As a member of this motivated but highly collegiate team you will enjoy a wide variety of dispute resolution work. The team handle claims including contract disputes, professional negligence, business interruption, insurance coverage disputes, high value contested debt recovery, franchise disputes, and defamation, partnership and shareholder disputes for a wide variety of commercial and corporate clients.
Your work will vary from day to day. You will help deal with legal research, evidence gathering, discovery, procedural work and routine case preparation and administration. You will liaise with clients, expert and other witnesses, Court officials and opposing parties, assist with document drafting / preparation, note taking and costing. You may also assist with trial and hearing preparation. In short, you may get involved at any aspect of the litigation and file management process and assist on related team activities. You will have the support and guidance of experienced approachable lawyers, who are passionate about developing junior lawyers and giving opportunities to enable growth and development.
The team’s wide client base and work profile provide an array of contentious work that is interesting, stimulating, and challenging.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

You may have some experience as a paralegal, with any amount of litigation experience being advantageous. Whatever your experience, you will need excellent academics and strong communication skills to be considered.
The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines and manage work streams from more than one team member, so you’ll need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. You also need to have an appetite to take on challenges and commit to tasks in a manner which shows your passion for law and passion to establish a legal career.

We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your fee earners and the clients that you are involved with, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work to ensure the highest standard and quality of work is achieved.
