Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate, mature and dedicated Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable adults and young people.
Working within a large and well-established organisation with over 1,200 rooms across Birmingham, you will provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to individuals who may need assistance to develop their confidence, independence and life skills.
This is a varied and rewarding role that requires someone who is proactive, responsible and confident working independently. You will be expected to take ownership of your responsibilities, use your initiative and recognise what needs to be done without requiring constant supervision or direction.
Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing compassionate, respectful and person-centred support to vulnerable adults and young people.
- Supporting individuals with their Universal Credit claims, benefits and access to relevant services.
- Assisting with job searches, CVs, applications, interviews and employment opportunities.
- Supporting individuals to identify personal goals and take positive steps towards greater independence.
- Helping with daily routines, practical needs and other areas where additional support may be required.
- Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
- Supporting educational, training and development opportunities, including homework and learning activities where appropriate.
- Encouraging positive social interaction, communication and participation in group activities.
- Developing professional and trusting relationships with residents, families, colleagues and external agencies.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to provide appropriate and consistent support.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records relating to progress, incidents, support provided and daily activities.
- Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
- Signposting individuals to appropriate services and specialist support when required.
- Supporting residents to access education, training, employment and community opportunities.
- Taking responsibility for your workload and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
About You

- Calm and professional when dealing with sensitive or challenging circumstances.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and young people.
- A full UK driving licence holder and confident driving as part of the role.
