Day Hygiene Operative
Location: Telford, Shropshire
Pickstock supply high quality British beef to wholesalers, food serviced professionals, and retailers across the UK and international trade. Based at our site in Telford, we slaughter, process and despatch the produce out to internal and external customers.
We have a great opportunity for a Day Hygiene Operative to join our Hygiene team. You will be required to perform various cleaning tasks on a day-to-day basis, in a physically demanding and fast-paced working environment. This role involves working with and supporting the team to ensure the smooth running of production and surrounding areas of the business.
Purpose of the Role
To ensure all production areas, equipment, tools, and facilities within the entire plant are cleaned and sanitised to the required hygiene and food safety standards, and supporting the production of safe and high-quality meat products.
Responsibilities will include
- Working collaboratively with the production and technical teams to maintain hygiene and food safety standards.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures, including PPE.
- Ensure all hygiene tasks are completed within allocated time and to the required standards.
- Conduct scheduled cleaning of production areas, equipment, and machinery, according to Cleaning Instruction cards and SSOP's, including but not limited to:
- Operate pressure washers, foaming equipment, and chemical dosing system safely.
- Operation of the tray and knife wash facility, cleaning of production equipment: knives, trays, lids, crates, pallets, metal racks, bins and dolavs.
- Cleaning of the factory entrance/boot wash areas during the production breaks and end of the production shift.
- Cleaning of chillers.
- Yard cleaning (and any additional cleaning tasks, when required).
- CAYG good practice's are met throughout the shift in all areas above.
- Use correct chemicals, concentration, and cleaning method, as trained.
- Follow colour coding and segregation system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Visually inspect cleaned areas and report any issues to the Supervisor.
- Report equipment faults, chemical leaks, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Dispose of waste and by-products in accordance with site procedures.
Skills required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a keen ability to identify and complete tasks without direct supervision.
- This role involves manual handling, standing for extended periods, and operating equipment, so a good level of physical fitness is essential to meet the demands of the job.
- Excellent prioritisation skills, ensuring tasks are managed efficiently and deadlines are met.
- Competent in the use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including Pump Trucks and Electric Powered Pallet Trucks.
- Exceptional time management and punctuality.
- Dependable and adaptable, with a flexible approach to changing demands.

Work Pattern
- Standard Shift Pattern: 5 out of 7 days, typically Monday to Friday
- 1 Position - 06:00 - 16:00
- Flexibility required, including availability for Saturday shifts, if required.
- Daily working hours will not exceed 9 hours, excluding break times.
