Job Overview
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £30k – £40k, dependent on experience
Location: Princes Risborough
We are looking for someone to join our team, who understands cabinetry from design through to machining, assembly and installation, allowing you to identify potential problems before they reach the machine.
You will be responsible for processing customer orders and translating customer designs, drawings and files into accurate manufacturing information using Cabinet Vision and our Biesse CNC system.
Customers may provide anything from cutting lists and basic drawings through to Cabinet Vision projects, CAD drawings, DXF files and bespoke machining requirements.
You will work closely with customers and the rest of the team to understand exactly what they require, resolve technical issues and make sure the information supplied is suitable for manufacture.
A major part of the role is being able to look beyond what is shown on a drawing.
- Process and input customer orders into Cabinet Vision
- Communicate directly with customers regarding drawings, designs and machining requirements
- Translate customer designs into accurate, production-ready CNC information
- Review and resolve issues with designs, orders and machining files
- Program drilling, routing, grooves, rebates, pockets, cut-outs and other machining operations
- Prepare bespoke and shaped components from customer-supplied CAD/DXF files and supply them with rendered files to approve
Cabinet-Making Knowledge Is Essential
We are looking for someone who understands not only how to draw or program a component, but why it is being manufactured in a particular way and how it will work in the finished cabinet and on site for the customer.
We expect you to be able to identify issues such as incorrect dimensions, missing edges, incorrect drilling positions, hardware clashes, unsuitable construction details, machining limitations or components that will not assemble correctly.
Where an issue is identified, you will communicate with the customer to find the correct solution before the job reaches production, so the ability to be customer facing is crucial as communication will be key.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in cabinetry, kitchens, bespoke furniture, joinery or a similar manufacturing environment, combined with strong CNC/CAD-CAM knowledge.
You should have:
- Previous CNC programming experience
- Strong knowledge of cabinet and furniture construction
- Experience taking cabinetry from drawings through to manufacture and assembly
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Good CAD/CAM skills. Experience working with DXF and other CAD files
- An understanding of CNC tooling and machining processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent practical problem-solving skills
- Confidence dealing directly with customers
- The ability to manage multiple customer jobs and revisions accurately
Experience with Cabinet Vision and Biesse machinery would be highly advantageous.
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
