In Focus is looking for a Finance Manager to help shape and lead our finance function within a small, creative and mission-driven charity.
This is a flexible, part-time hybrid role, working 8 hours per week at £20.75 per hour. Hours can be worked Tuesday to Thursday, with some attendance at our Southampton office, including a monthly whole-team meeting.
You will support strong financial systems, clear reporting and long-term sustainability as we continue our work with young people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will oversee day-to-day finance processes including bookkeeping, payments, invoices, payroll coordination, debtor management, bank reconciliations and cashflow. You will also support budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, Board reporting, year-end audit preparation, restricted funds, grant reporting, compliance and financial controls.
This is a unique opportunity to lead finance within a growing charity. You will work closely with the CEO, Board of Trustees and wider team to provide clear financial insight, strengthen systems and ensure our resources are used effectively.
We are looking for someone with finance experience, strong attention to detail, clear communication skills and an understanding of charity finance, or relevant transferable experience. A recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting financial strategy, planning, forecasting and budgeting.
- Providing financial insight, advice and reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
- Managing day-to-day finance processes including bookkeeping, payments, invoices, payroll coordination, debtor management, bank reconciliations and cashflow.
- Maintaining accurate records, internal controls and financial policies.
- Producing management accounts, variance analysis, Board reports and year-end audit preparation.
- Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements, UK financial regulations, restricted fund rules and funder reporting.
- Supporting grant budgets, financial reporting and pricing models for programmes and earned income.
- Managing finance systems, streamlining processes and improving reporting tools.
Essential experience and skills:
- Experience in a finance role covering bookkeeping, reporting, budgeting and compliance.
- Strong understanding of charity finance, including restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Ability to work independently and help develop a finance function.
- Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain finance to non-finance colleagues.

- A recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working in a small charity or creative organisation.
- Experience preparing for audits and working with trustees.
- Knowledge of charity SORP.
- Experience supporting fundraising teams with budgets and financial reporting.
