Job Description:
This is an interesting and varied job role. The successful applicant will be working within a small team and will gain skills such as:
· Understanding of non-metallic materials and their use in industry.
· The manufacture of test specimens - using a variety of specialised techniques and equipment.
· Performing of mechanical, and thermal testing by operating our sophisticated test machines.
· Undertaking destructive tests such as Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, Tensile, Compression.
· The visual analysis of test specimens to determine the failure mode.
· The analysis of test data.
· The creation of technical reports.
· Effectively manage projects to ensure programme timescales and budgetary demands are met
· Serve as a technical expert representative both internally and with customers
· Communicate effectively with customers

Skills/ Qualifications
- You will be minimum Degree qualified in Materials Science or Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial experience in adhesive and composite materials testing or manufacturing necessary.
- Knowledge and experience of BS EN ISO and ASTM material testing standards.
- Experienced in or knowledge of the use of static, fatigue and thermal analysis test equipment beneficial.
- Knowledge of non-metallic materials
- Able to work in a practical laboratory based environment both “hands-on” and in a more advisory role, being able to provide technical leadership to others.
- Excellent problem solving skills with a proven record in conducting successful technical investigations.
- Developed communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Good planning, organisational skills and project management abilities.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
- Good communication skills- both verbal and written.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan and manage workload and meet strict deadlines.
- Enjoy practical work.

Salary:
Starting salary depending on experience and qualification- negotiable, but in the region of £28,000 to £40,000
