Are you passionate about Mechanical Engineering and keen to inspire the next generation of engineers? DN Colleges Group is seeking a Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering to join our Engineering department.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Mechanical Engineering programmes while supporting students to achieve their full potential. You will act as a Programme Tutor for a caseload of students, providing both academic and pastoral support, monitoring progress, and helping learners develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for further study and employment.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, industry partners and support teams to create an engaging learning environment that promotes achievement, progression, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lecturer or an industry professional looking to transition into teaching, with support available to gain a teaching qualification where required.
This is a Part-time position for 22.5 hours per week. Working pattern can be discussed with the successful candidate.
Actual Salary for 22.5 hours £21,414.29- £27,105.21 (Full time equivalent of £33,787- £42,766)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Mechanical Engineering programmes.
- Act as a Programme Tutor and support student progress, attendance, achievement and wellbeing.
- Develop engaging and inclusive learning experiences using innovative teaching methods and learning technologies.
- Assess student work, maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance processes
- Embed English and maths within teaching and learning activities.
- Monitor student behaviour and attendance, taking appropriate action where required.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with industry partners to enhance learning and progression opportunities.
- Participate in student recruitment activities, including open events and admissions activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, review and improve the curriculum.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
- Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
- Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to create a stimulating learning environment and motivate students to achieve their potential.

Additional Information
Teaching Qualifications: Applicants are not required to hold a teaching qualification at the point of appointment. However, they must be willing to work towards and achieve a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification within the first 18 months of employment. This qualification must then be maintained through ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD). At DN Colleges Group, a recognised teaching qualification is defined as Level 5 or above.
