Job Title: Laundry Assistant
Location: Burlington Hall Care Home, 9 Station Road, Woburn Sands, MK17 8RR
Hours: 8:00am – 3:00pm or 8:00am – 4:00pm (flexible)
Contract: Part-time / Full-time (as agreed)
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Laundry Assistant to join our team in a busy 70-bed care home. You will play a key role in ensuring all residents’ clothing, bedding, and linen are cleaned, handled, and returned to a high standard, maintaining dignity and infection control at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, and fold residents’ clothing and linen
- Ensure all items are clearly labelled and returned to the correct resident
- Operate laundry equipment safely and effectively (washing machines, dryers, etc.)
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the laundry area
- Follow infection control procedures and COSHH guidelines at all times
- Report any damaged or missing items to management
- Ensure adequate stock levels of laundry supplies (detergents, bags, etc.)
- Work closely with care staff to ensure timely turnaround of laundry
- Keep the laundry room clean, organised, and safe
- Adhere to health & safety policies and care home procedures
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a laundry or care setting is desirable but not essential
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Understanding of hygiene and infection control (training will be provided)
- Kind, respectful, and patient approach when working around residents
