Information Communications Technician Apprentice (Level 3)

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (40 hours per week)

You’ll work with professional-grade hardware while developing practical skills and working towards a recognised Level 3 qualification.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll support the testing, repair, and preparation of IT equipment including desktops, laptops, servers, and networking devices.
You’ll gain valuable experience in diagnosing issues, building systems, and ensuring all equipment is fully functional and ready for use. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to build a long-term career in IT engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Repair & Build
- Test and check hardware components such as storage drives, memory, and processors
- Assist with repairing devices, including replacing screens, keyboards, and parts
- Help build and configure computers, workstations, and servers
System Setup & Testing
- Install and configure operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux)
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Ensure equipment meets quality standards before dispatch
Workshop & Operations Support
- Disassemble and prepare IT equipment for refurbishment or reuse
- Label and track equipment through the process
- Support picking, packing, and order preparation
Data & Documentation
- Record technical and audit information accurately
- Follow procedures and update documentation where required
- Complete daily checks and maintain organised records
Health & Safety
- Follow safe working procedures including handling equipment correctly
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace
- Report faults or issues promptly
Apprenticeship Training
You’ll complete a Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship, combining hands-on experience with structured learning.
You’ll develop skills in:
- IT hardware and diagnostics
- System configuration and troubleshooting
- Working to technical standards and processes
- Health and safety in a technical environment
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Ability to handle and move IT equipment where required
- Basic understanding of computer components or systems
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Interest in building or repairing computers
- Awareness of operating systems such as Windows or Linux
- Any technical study or certifications
- Full driving licence
