ABOUT EUROSCOT ENGINEERING
Euroscot Engineering is one of Scotland's leading precision engineering manufacturers, with over 55 years of continuous growth at our Glasgow facility. We produce highly complex, tight-tolerance machined components and assemblies for customers in the Defence, Aerospace, Satellite, Electronics, Medical, and General sectors — work that demands exacting standards and zero compromise on quality.
Certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, we combine advanced CNC machining capability with a culture built around right-first-time delivery. As we continue to grow and win work in high-value regulated markets, we are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Quality Inspector to join our Quality team.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a key role within our Quality function. You will take full ownership of inspection activities across the production lifecycle — first off, in-process, and final inspection — and act as the go-to technical expert for CMM measurement, drawing interpretation, and non-conformance resolution. You will also coach and develop junior inspection staff and play an active part in maintaining and improving our ISO 9001 quality management system.
If you thrive in a busy, precision-focused manufacturing environment and want a role where your expertise genuinely makes a difference to product quality and customer satisfaction, we want to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
· Performing first off, in-process, and final inspection of precision CNC machined components to customer drawings and specifications.
· Operating Mitutoyo CMM equipment and conventional metrology instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, profilometers, surface finish testers).
· Interpreting complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and material/surface finish specifications.
· Producing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and supporting customer source inspection visits.
· Raising, investigating, and resolving Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and driving CAPA closure.
· Leading root cause analysis activities using 8D, 5-Why, or Ishikawa methodologies.
· Managing the calibration programme and ensuring all measurement equipment is maintained in calibration.
· Reviewing and verifying material certifications, certificates of conformity, and traceability documentation.
· Supporting internal and external ISO 9001 audits and preparing objective evidence.
· Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior inspection team members.
· Contributing to process improvement and quality planning activities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential
· At least 5 years' quality inspection experience in a precision CNC machining / subcontract precision engineering environment.
· Programming and Operating of Mitutoyo Coordinate-Measuring Machines (CMM). Hands-on CMM operation experience — able to set up and execute inspection programmes independently.
· Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight dimensional tolerances.
· Solid working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, NCR processes, and CAPA.
· Competent with conventional measurement tools: micrometers, gauges, surface roughness testers, height gauges.
· Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation habits.
· Good communicator — comfortable presenting quality data to internal teams and customers.
Desirable
· Experience in Defence, Aerospace, Satellite, or Medical Device manufacturing.
· Familiarity with AS9100, AQAP-2110, or equivalent defence/aerospace quality standards.
· Experience preparing FAIR reports to AS9102.
· ONC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent apprenticeship background).
