Title: Production Supervisor — Morning Shift (Food Manufacturing) Pay: £18.00 per hour Hours: 5 days Mon - Sat, 6am–3pm
About us The Urban Fermentery is an independent Suffolk-based producer of small-batch fermented and pickled foods — supplying leading UK retailers and our own brand. We're BRC-accredited, growing fast, and moving into a new larger facility within the next 6 months.
The role We're hiring a hands-on Morning Shift Supervisor to lead a small team of 4–6 on our 6am–3pm shift. You'll be the senior person on site for most of your shift, running the line, keeping standards high, and getting product out the door safely.
This is a real opportunity to grow with us — into the new facility, into a bigger team, and into a wider leadership role as the business scales.
You'll be responsible for
- Leading and motivating a team of 4–6 production staff
- Running and troubleshooting key packing equipment: multihead weigher, sticker machine, metal detector, checkweigher
- Maintaining BRC compliance on shift — quality checks, records, GMP, hygiene
- Driving "Clean as You Go", efficiency, and waste reduction
- Clean handovers with the day shift; coaching and developing your team
- Forklift operation for pallet movement as needed
What you need
- 3+ years' supervisory experience in food manufacturing (essential)
- Hands-on experience with multihead weighers, metal detectors, and checkweighers
- Solid working knowledge of BRC standards
- Valid forklift licence
- Strong understanding of food safety, GMP, and HACCP
- Reliable, organised, hands-on, and confident leading from the front
- Able to get to and from work without public transport (rural site)
Nice to have: Level 3 Food Safety, IOSH Working Safely, chilled food experience, experience supporting a site move or new line install.
