Based at Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent, the elective orthopaedic centre will see over 4,000 Londoners a year for routine bone and joint surgery when which opened in November 2023.

About the pathway
It’s an entirely new and exciting elective pathway: you can expect to see over 4,000 north west Londoners a year through their elective surgery.
When they’re ready, your patients will travel to the state of the art elective orthopaedic centre at Central Middlesex Hospital for their operation, where you’ll work with your patient’s surgeon from their home hospital.
The post holder will work closely with the therapy staff/MDT, to assess EOC patients pre and postoperatively, treat and actively be involved in the discharge planning for those patient’s admitted to the Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
The post holder will also take a lead in the preparation, co-ordination and execution of the Joint School.
The ultimate aim of providing an occupational therapy service to these patients relates to promoting their function and independence in occupational performance areas, and to facilitate safe discharges.
The role will involve a mix of both patient facing and non-patient facing clinical tasks.
The post holder will be asked to work in other areas occasionally to cover and support staff absences or service needs.
They will receive formal supervision from a Senior OT and participate in in-service training and team meetings.
