Confined Space Rescue Technician (Standby Rescue Team)

Enviromontel installs and maintains the monitors and data loggers that tell water companies what is happening inside their networks, from sewers and storm pipes to river channels, reservoirs and culverts. A good deal of that work happens in confined spaces, and none of it happens without a rescue team standing by.
That is this job. As a Rescue Technician you provide the standby emergency cover that allows our site teams to enter high-risk environments and get the work done safely. Most days nothing happens, and that is the point. When something does, you are the person who is ready, equipped and calm enough to deal with it.

What the job involves
You will work as part of our confined space rescue team, maintaining safe and effective standby emergency arrangements wherever our teams are working. That means upholding safety standards and rescue protocols without exception, keeping equipment and yourself ready to deploy, and responding effectively and professionally if an emergency develops. When rescue cover is not required, you will work alongside the regular site team, so no day is spent sitting still.
What you need to be able to do
Some parts of this role are not negotiable, and it is fairer to be plain about them up front:
You must be physically able and willing to enter confined spaces
You must be clean shaven while working, because the role uses tight-fitting breathing apparatus and facial hair prevents a proper seal and a valid face fit test
The work involves staying away from home during the week, so you need to be comfortable with regular overnight stays
A full UK driving licence is essential (held for 2 years or more and 3 points or less on the license, no previous bans)
Beyond that we are looking for someone calm, confident and decisive under pressure, with excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate people and resources when it matters. First aid training or other safety certifications are an advantage rather than a requirement.
