Godfrey Care is looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team.
We are a specialist residential care provider delivering outcome-focused support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.
This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week, supporting the maintenance of our services across The Midlands (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire)
We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and skilled Maintenance Operative to help ensure our services remain safe, comfortable, and well maintained for the people we support, our staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will have a practical approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and take pride in maintaining high standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive maintenance and repair services across multiple sites.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs.
- Complete a range of basic maintenance tasks, including joinery, plumbing, painting and decorating, basic electrical work, water temperature checks, and general building maintenance.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Conduct routine checks of fire alarm call points, emergency lighting, fire exits, and door retaining devices.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and company vehicles are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Report hazards, defects, faulty equipment, and health and safety concerns promptly.
- Travel between our services and, on occasion, be available to respond to emergency maintenance issues outside of normal working hours.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed.
About You
You will:
- Have previous experience in a similar maintenance role (experience within a healthcare or care setting would be advantageous).
- Have practical skills in general maintenance, plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating, and basic electrical work.
- Hold a full UK driving licence, as regular travel between our services is essential.
- Have strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Be reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering a high standard of workmanship.
