Contracts Manager- Scaffolding
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Contracts Manager to join our established scaffolding business. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised individual with strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of scaffolding operations, health and safety, and contract management.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day management of multiple scaffolding contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. Acting as the primary link between site-based operatives and senior management, you will be responsible for maintaining operational performance, supporting site teams, and building strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Manage, support, and develop Supervisors and Inspectors, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Maintain regular communication with site teams to assess labour requirements and coordinate resources across live projects.
- Liaise closely with the Yard team regarding deliveries, collections, load lists, surplus materials, and logistical planning.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, site managers, and principal contractors, resolving operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor the quality of work across all contracts, carrying out site audits and producing snagging reports where required.
- Support the commercial function through the preparation of variations, invoicing information, and monthly revenue forecasts.
- Monitor employee attendance and timekeeping using the company's workforce management systems.
- Attend planning meetings and assist with the effective allocation of labour and resources.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all projects.
- Prepare, review, and implement Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and TG20/TG30 compliance documentation.
- Deliver and oversee Toolbox Talks and other site-based safety briefings.
- Conduct Harness Inspections and ensure all associated records are maintained in accordance with NASC requirements.
- Carry out scaffold handovers and statutory seven-day scaffold inspections where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry guidance, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Support the maintenance and renewal of industry accreditations, including NASC, CHAS, and other recognised schemes.
Planning, Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare job sheets, load lists, and other operational documentation.
- Monitor site progress through regular reporting and photographic records.
- Oversee tie pull-out and proof testing, ensuring reports are completed accurately.
- Carry out site surveys and attend pre-contract and progress meetings where required.
- Produce accurate operational reports to support project delivery and business performance.
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent organisational ability, and a proactive approach to managing contracts and operational teams. You will possess excellent communication skills and be capable of working effectively with employees, clients, suppliers, and senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within a Contracts Manager or Senior Supervisory role in the scaffolding industry.
- SSSTS qualification (or equivalent).
- Thorough knowledge of scaffolding operations, current legislation, TG20 guidance, and industry best practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using the Smart Inspector App or similar inspection management software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
