Strand Hair Salon is looking for a fun, passionate and talented Hair Stylist to join our team.
We’re an established, busy salon with a relaxed approach to employment. We trust our stylists to manage their own column and timings, look after their clients and get on with what they do best — creating great hair.
The Role
As a stylist at Strand, you’ll be responsible for running your own column efficiently, delivering excellent hairdressing services and creating an experience that keeps clients coming back.
We don’t have junior staff, which means our stylists manage their own appointments and workload from start to finish, while also taking responsibility for the day-to-day salon duties that keep everything running smoothly.
It also means our clients receive a more personal experience, with the same stylist looking after them throughout every step of their appointment.
You’ll have plenty of independence, but you’ll also be part of a supportive team where everyone contributes.
We take our team’s wellbeing seriously too. We schedule a wellbeing day every quarter, and when it comes to socialising, dinner and drinks are often on the cards if you’re that way inclined!
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing high-quality cutting, colouring and styling services
- Consulting with clients and creating looks that suit their individual needs
- Building strong, lasting relationships with your clients
- Managing your time effectively and keeping your column running smoothly
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Helping with general salon duties and supporting the wider team
- Keeping up to date with current trends, techniques and industry developments
- Working closely with Milk_Shake, as we are a Milk_Shake concept salon, including taking part in training and developing your product knowledge
- Creating social media content and showcasing your work
- Taking photos and videos of your work to help build your professional profile and promote the salon
- Being an active and positive part of the Strand team
Social Media & Creativity
Social media is a big part of the role.
We want our stylists to be proud of their work and confident in showcasing it. Creating content, photographing your transformations and sharing your work across social media is an important part of growing both your own profile and Strand’s online presence.
If you enjoy creating content, keeping up with trends and showing off your hair transformations, that’s a big plus.
Our Approach
We’re a little different from some salons.
We don’t believe in hard selling or pushing products on clients. We want our clients to enjoy their experience and trust our professional recommendations without feeling pressured to buy something.
We also don’t believe in unnecessary pressure or constant micromanagement.
You’ll be trusted to manage your own column, look after your clients and get on with your day. In return, we expect you to be organised, responsible and proactive.
It’s a busy salon, so you’ll need to be able to work independently, manage your time well and keep on top of your responsibilities.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Qualified in Hairdressing (Level 3 or equivalent)
- Confident running their own column
- Experienced in a busy salon environment
- Passionate about hair and genuinely enjoys what they do
- Friendly, fun and approachable
- Reliable, organised and able to manage their own workload
- Comfortable creating and appearing in social media content
- Proud of their work and keen to showcase their results
- A team player who is happy to contribute to salon duties
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with personality and passion.
