To provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with a range of needs (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, physical or mental health needs) in a supported living or community setting, promoting independence, dignity, and overall wellbeing. Drive clients for social activities
Key Responsibilities -
Personal Care and Support
- Support individuals with daily living tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene where required.
- Assist with mobility, including the use of mobility aids or hoists.
- Administer or support with medication in line with training and care plans.
Emotional and Social Support
- Promote emotional wellbeing through active listening and companionship.
- Encourage participation in hobbies, social activities, and community access.
- Provide support during periods of emotional distress or anxiety using de-escalation techniques.
Health and Wellbeing
- Monitor health conditions and report any changes or concerns promptly.
- Accompany individuals to health appointments if necessary.
- Promote healthy eating and assist with meal preparation.
Independence and Daily Skills
- Encourage and support individuals in developing life skills (e.g., cooking, shopping, money management).
- Promote independence in line with each person’s individual care plan.
Record Keeping and Communication
- Accurately complete daily records, incident reports, and medication logs.
- Communicate effectively with team members, family, and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in handovers, team meetings, and reviews.
Safeguarding and Health & Safety
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Follow risk assessments and individual support plans.
Person SpecificationEssential:
- Caring, compassionate, and patient nature.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Willingness to undertake training (e.g., medication, safeguarding, manual handling).
Desirable:
- Previous experience in care or support work.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).
- Knowledge of supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle (required for the role).
