About the Role
Construo Recruitment is seeking a Junior / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the delivery of a high-volume social housing disrepair contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 1–2 years of quantity surveying or commercial experience or someone studying a construction-related qualification to develop within a fast-paced, hands-on commercial environment.
You will gain exposure to pricing, valuations, subcontractor management, NHF Schedule of Rates, and legal disrepair work, with full support from an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This is a practical role with clear progression into a more independent QS position over time.
Key Responsibilities
Support the commercial management of a social housing disrepair contract
Price works using the NHF Schedule of Rates
Prepare and maintain pricing schedules and trackers in Excel
Review validation reports and convert them into priced work orders
Agree work order values with the client
Assist with monthly valuations, reporting, and cost forecasting
Review subcontractor applications and payment submissions
Support variation pricing and commercial change control processes
Maintain accurate commercial and financial records
Liaise with operational teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and client representatives
Assist in the management of legal disrepair cases
Ensure works are accurately priced, valued, and agreed in a timely manner
Requirements
1–2 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying, estimating, or commercial support (preferred)
Understanding of construction, repairs, maintenance, or social housing works
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data, pricing, and trackers
Good communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
Proactive attitude with willingness to learn and develop
Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment
Interest in developing a long-term QS career
Desirable (not essential):
Experience with NHF Schedule of Rates
Exposure to social housing, disrepair, or planned maintenance contracts
Relevant QS or construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or studying towards)
