Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing and installing formwork for concrete structures, ensuring precision and safety on-site. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced carpenters with specialised knowledge in shuttering to contribute to high-quality building projects. The position involves working on commercial and industrial sites, requiring physical endurance and technical expertise.
Duties
- Construct, assemble, and install formwork for concrete structures in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the appropriate formwork layout.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery necessary for formwork assembly and installation.
- Ensure all formwork is level, plumb, and securely fixed to withstand concrete pour pressures.
- Perform heavy lifting of materials such as timber panels, steel supports, and other formwork components.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist with the removal of formwork once concrete has set, ensuring minimal damage to the structure.
Skills
- Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on shuttering or formwork installation.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as saws, hammers, chisels, and levels.
- Skilled in operating power tools including drills, grinders, and cutting machines.
- Welding skills are highly desirable for joining steel components securely.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to adjusting or repairing equipment used on-site.
- Experience with roofing or masonry work is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely over extended periods.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a construction environment. This role requires a dedicated professional capable of working efficiently within a team while maintaining high standards of quality and safety on site. Pay: £26.00 per hour
