Key Responsibilities
The Mintz Group is seeking an inquisitive, detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior Investigator for its IP practice based in Worthing. As a senior investigator, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on trade marks, companies and individuals across the world to help clients uncover intellectual property infringements, branding risks and threats to clients’ businesses.
You will join a team of bright, curious and collaborative investigators who speak more than 30 languages in our offices across the world. Your primary responsibilities would include:

Conduct research into trade marks, businesses, individuals and electronic assets throughout the world to assist clients in branding and litigation decisions;

Dig into public records and data repositories, from trade mark, corporate and press records, to complex litigation records and SEC filings;

Through telephone and other interviewing methods, elicit sensitive information from targets;

Analyse and distil findings into written reports which must be comprehensive, unambiguous and of the highest professional standard as they are subject to the close scrutiny by clients and may also be used as evidence in court;

Brief case managers and partners on findings in a clear and professional manner;

Possibly conduct other types of investigations, such as anonymous acquisitions of IP assets and site visits to survey goods on the market.

With that in mind, the ideal candidate will bring many of the skills and experiences listed below.
Experience: Ideally candidates will have 2 – 3 years’ experience in OSINT research, journalism or law-
Communication Skills: A very confident telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with a wide variety of audiences, including in particular the targets of investigations.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse, summarise and communicate large amounts of complex information in a concise and compelling manner;

Research and writing: Strong research and writing skills, and superior attention to detail;

Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in a related subject will be required for this position, advanced degree will be advantageous.

Adaptability and pressure: Ability to juggle casework and meet strict, often overlapping, deadlines along with the ability to work under pressure;

Additionally beneficial skills: Any of the following would be particularly beneficial for this position;

Working proficiency in another language(s), both written and oral – especially Polish, Italian and/or Arabic;

A knowledge of intellectual property law.

A knowledge of or interest in FMCGs, fashion/beauty, cryptocurrency, technology or pharmaceuticals;

Experience with public records databases - for example, Factiva, DomainTools or TraceIQ - and open source research.
This role involves a hybrid work setup, candidates are required to work in Worthing.
