Job Title: Pharmacy Dispenser
Key Responsibilities
Prescription Services
- Accurately receive, prepare, and label prescriptions under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Dispense medicines safely in line with legal and professional requirements.
- Provide patients with clear instructions on the safe use of their medicines (within scope of training).
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection and GPhC standards at all times.
Customer Service
- Welcome patients and provide friendly, professional support.
- Handle prescription queries in person and over the phone, referring clinical matters to the pharmacist.
- Assist patients with locating appropriate over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and provide basic advice.
- Ensure sensitive and professional handling of customer concerns or complaints.
Stock and Inventory Management
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and checking pharmaceutical stock.
- Maintain stock rotation and check expiry dates.
- Keep the dispensary organised, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Support stock audits and manage controlled drug registers where required.
Administrative Duties
- Accurately input and maintain patient medication records.
- Assist with prescription collection and delivery services.
- File and organise documentation in line with pharmacy procedures.
- Support the pharmacist with general dispensary administration.
Teamwork and Compliance
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists and pharmacy staff to deliver safe and efficient services.
- Attend training to stay up to date with medicines, pharmacy practice, and regulations.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
- Commitment to excellent patient care.
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or willingness to work towards it).
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a pharmacy dispensary.
- Familiarity with Titan PMR.
