We are looking for a Senior Video and Digital Officer to lead the creation of fresh, engaging video and digital content for two councils. This is a creative, hands-on role with real scope to make an impact. You will line manage two members of the team, helping them develop, build confidence and produce their best work, while also playing a key role in the wider Marketing and Communications function.
You could be filming at a community event one day, working with senior leaders on an important campaign the next, or helping your team turn a complicated subject into something clear, creative and engaging. You will need to be comfortable working with people at every level. Strong senior stakeholder management is essential, but so is the ability to chat naturally with residents, colleagues, councillors, community groups and people of all ages.
We are looking for someone with creativity, good judgement and a sense of humour. Someone who enjoys throwing ideas around, is happy to try something different and knows how to get the best out of the people around them.
What you will be doing
- Leading the creation of video and digital content across both councils
- Line managing two team members and helping them to develop and flourish
- Coming up with creative ideas for campaigns, social media and other digital content
- Filming, editing and producing engaging video content
- Helping to turn complex council subjects into content that is clear, accessible and interesting
- Building strong relationships with senior officers, councillors and colleagues across both organisations
- Providing confident advice on video, digital content and creative communications
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider Marketing and Communications team
- Attending events and activities across both council areas to capture content
- Encouraging new ideas and helping us to keep improving how we use video and digital channels
What we are looking for
- Strong experience of creating high-quality video and digital content
- Plenty of creative ideas and the confidence to bring them to life
- Experience of managing, leading and developing others
- The ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels and of all ages
- The ability to make people feel comfortable in front of a camera
- Good judgement and understanding of what makes content work for different audiences
- A supportive leadership style and a genuine interest in helping others grow
- The confidence to work independently and make decisions
- Ability to travel independently between locations and attend events across both council areas
There will sometimes be a need to attend events or activities outside normal working hours, so some flexibility is important. Time off in lieu will be provided.
