Steep Street Coffee House is an independent bookshop café in the heart of Folkestone's Creative Quarter. We serve speciality coffee, homemade cakes and light lunches in a lively, welcoming environment. We're busy throughout the week, with particularly fast-paced lunch services and weekends.
We're looking for an experienced barista to join our team. This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys making excellent coffee, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in delivering consistently high standards, even during the busiest services.
You'll have solid experience working on a commercial espresso machine, be confident dialling in coffee, producing consistent latte art, and maintaining speed without compromising quality. We're looking for someone who can think on their feet, switch seamlessly between making drinks and serving customers, and remain calm and organised when the café is full.
The role includes preparing speciality coffee, operating the till, serving food and drinks, clearing and resetting tables, handling payments, and helping to maintain a clean and efficient café. Flexibility is important, as you'll be expected to support wherever needed to keep service flowing smoothly.
You'll be warm, approachable and enjoy building relationships with our many regular customers. Reliability, initiative and a strong work ethic are essential.
