Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial management and accounting software, with a proven track record in financial services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to organisational financial health, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, and mentoring junior team members. Experience with recognised accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar is highly desirable.
Duties
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory standards.
- Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and proper documentation.
- Utilise accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft to record transactions and reconcile accounts.
- Oversee financial data entry, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all systems.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities through detailed analysis of financial data.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior finance staff or interns, fostering professional development within the team.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial regulations at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in financial management or accounting roles within a professional environment.
- Demonstrable proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Experience working within the financial services sector is advantageous but not essential.
- Prior experience in accounts payable processing is preferred.
- Ability to mentor colleagues or interns effectively, demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy across all financial records.

Pay: £41,700.00-£43,000.00 per year
