Part-time | Contracted minimum 30 hours per week | Evenings and weekends required
Competitive hourly rate, dependent on age and experience
Welwyn Garden City Golf Club is looking for an exceptional, experienced Bar & Hospitality Team Member to join our team.
This is not an entry-level hospitality role. We are looking for someone with strong previous bar experience, excellent customer service skills and a genuine commitment to maintaining high standards.
The role will be contracted for a minimum of 30 hours per week, providing the successful candidate with a consistent level of weekly hours. Due to the nature of our hospitality operation, applicants must also be available to work a mixture of weekdays, evenings and weekends.
As a busy private members’ golf club, we provide bar and hospitality services to our members and their guests throughout the week, while also hosting regular functions, dinners, parties and events. The successful candidate will need to be confident working in a fast-paced environment while remaining professional, organised and attentive to detail at all times.
You will be expected to take pride in the presentation of the bar, function rooms and wider hospitality areas and to understand that, in a members’ club environment, the small details matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering friendly, professional and efficient bar service to members and guests
- Preparing and serving drinks confidently and accurately
- Operating the till and handling payments
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
- Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the bar is properly prepared for service
- Setting up function rooms, tables, bars and hospitality areas to a high standard
- Supporting the delivery of functions, dinners, parties and club events
- Clearing down and resetting rooms efficiently following events
- Anticipating member and guest requirements rather than waiting to be asked
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure consistently high standards of service
- Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring jobs are completed properly
The Person We Are Looking For
We want to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong previous bar and hospitality experience
- Exceptional attention to detail
- High personal standards and genuine pride in their work
- A professional, confident and welcoming manner
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to remain calm, organised and efficient during busy periods
- Initiative and the ability to recognise what needs doing without constant supervision
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
- A proactive approach rather than simply waiting for instructions
- Strong teamwork combined with the ability to work independently
- Excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation
- A flexible and positive approach to the varied demands of hospitality
- The confidence to interact professionally with members, guests and function organisers
Previous experience within a private members’ club, golf club, quality hotel, restaurant, events venue or busy premium hospitality environment would be particularly advantageous.
We are looking for someone who understands the difference between simply serving customers and delivering excellent hospitality. The right candidate will notice the details, anticipate what needs to be done and take personal responsibility for maintaining the standards expected within the Club.
Hours
This is a part-time position contracted for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Applicants must have sufficient flexibility to work across:
- Weekdays
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Functions and special events
Working patterns will vary according to the needs of the Club, its members and the events calendar. Because of the nature of the role, candidates who are unable to work regular evenings and weekends are unlikely to be suitable.
Pay
Pay will be dependent on age and relevant experience, with rates meeting or exceeding the applicable National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage.
Higher rates may be considered for candidates who can demonstrate particularly strong and relevant bar, hospitality, functions or events experience.
