Qualified Pharmacy Technician
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and professional pharmacy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about patient care and committed to delivering high-quality pharmacy services within the community.
Reporting directly to the Pharmacy Manager and Responsible Pharmacist, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy. You will be responsible for dispensing prescriptions, supporting pharmacy services, maintaining regulatory compliance, and assisting in the development of patient-centred care initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a busy pharmacy environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense, label, and check prescriptions within your scope of practice and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support the Responsible Pharmacist in the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services.
- Assist with prescription processing, endorsement, and reimbursement requirements.
- Manage repeat prescription services and liaise with GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support the delivery of NHS and private pharmacy services.
- Ensure medicines are stored, handled, and supplied safely and in accordance with legal and professional requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, receive deliveries, and oversee stock control procedures.
- Conduct regular date-checking and ensure appropriate disposal of expired or unwanted medicines.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining pharmacy governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Provide guidance and support to pharmacy assistants, dispensers, and trainee team members.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and respond professionally to patient enquiries.
- Support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.
Skills and Experience
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Hold a recognised Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a community pharmacy environment is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of pharmacy procedures, medicines management, and pharmacy legislation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent in the use of pharmacy dispensing systems and IT software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

- Applicants must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and maintain their registration throughout employment.
- Employment is subject to satisfactory references and successful completion of a probationary period.

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
