Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist children with learning disabilities. This role involves providing personalised care and support to help children achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to individual needs. Responsibilities
- Assist children with daily activities, including personal care, mobility, and behavioural support
- Implement and follow personalised care plans tailored to each child's needs
- Support children during educational activities and social interactions to promote development
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages independence and confidence
- Maintain accurate records of progress and any concerns, ensuring effective communication with colleagues and families
- Drive children safely to appointments or activities as required, adhering to all safety regulations
- Use IT tools to document care routines, update records, and communicate effectively within the team
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or special educational needs
- Valid driving licence and confidence in driving children to various locations
- Knowledge of childcare practices and child development principles
- Ability to create and follow detailed care plans tailored to individual children’s requirements
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with families, colleagues, and external professionals
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
- Compassionate attitude with patience, resilience, and a genuine desire to support children's growth and well-being
Pay: £13.45 per hour
