Do you feel able to have fun and interact on activities with the young people and also have the ability to give guidance and support when they are struggling with behaviours due to being in crisis.
Experience of working with service users presenting Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including low self-esteem, self-harming, and challenging behaviours is desirable, but not essential, unless applying for a senior role. ACS provide training and support to enable you to become part of a team that creates a therapeutic, restorative, family environment for children and young people who have suffered abuse, neglect, and other trauma.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to children in a residential setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive environment.
- Assist with daily activities, including personal care and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Drive children to appointments and activities as needed, ensuring safe transportation.
Children's Residential carers with no experience or qualifications will be paid a basic of £27040.00 plus sleepover allowance and waking night rates. After completion of probationary period and achieving the required Diploma for the position, which in some cases can be completed within 6 months, your rate could rise to a minimum of £28392.00 plus sleepover allowance and waking night rates where completed. Senior rates start at £13.85 per hour up to £14.00 per hour dependent on experience.

Essential elements of person specification for either role:
- You must be a minimum of 21 years old following regulations
- You must have a full driving licence.
- Complete a satisfactory Enhanced DBS.
- Satisfactory references
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- Be active team player with good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must be willing to undertake Diploma Level 3 in Children's residential care or level 4 Children, young people and family’s practitioner funded by ACS.
