What does it mean to be a New Holland Dock Wharfingers Crane Driver/General Operative?
This role focuses on providing a first-class service for our customers but is not limited to, the handling and transportation of freight goods on/off vessels, lorries and to/from storage areas, other operations such as timber treatment, de-stuffing of containers, unloading of engineered timber goods from road vehicles and yard/warehouse operations etc.
Working hours:
You will need to maintain a flexible approach to working hours as follows:
- Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday
- 8.5 hours between the hours of 0600 – 2200 hrs
- Flexible and extended hours are required to meet the needs of the business
- Overtime available
- Weekend availability will be expected at times
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To operate Terminal Equipment in a number of applications including vessel discharging operations, cargo movement/storage, treatment plants, despatch and goods in by road. Equipment will include, but not be limited to, cranes, forklifts, sideloaders and tractor units.
- To maintain stock information accurately when carrying out operations using written and verbal methods for recording stock movements.
- To adhere to strict customer and manufacturer requirements on both quality and safety.
- To maintain good communications between other Terminal staff at all times, ensuring issues can be dealt with promptly.
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment, observing good housekeeping and work in accordance with the Company’s H&S policies at all times.
- Assist in miscellaneous duties in other areas, some of which maybe of a manual handling nature and work of a physical nature.

What are the requirements to be part of our team?
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Quay side crane operator.
- Previous experience within a manual based role.
- Must be flexible towards working hours
Desirable:
- Previous knowledge/experience of handling timber a distinct advantage.
- CHIP or similar industry related safety induction (Desirable but training can be provided)
- Current licence to drive a Crane – refresher training or conversion can be provided.
- Full UK driving licence or working towards gaining a licence would be a distinct advantage.
