Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sprinkler Designer to join our growing in-house design team based in Central London.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing automatic fire sprinkler systems for a wide range of residential, hotel, commercial, and mixed-use developments, with a particular focus on refurbishment and office-to-hotel or residential conversion projects. Working closely with our MEP, design, and construction teams, you will develop compliant and efficient sprinkler system designs from concept through to construction.
This is a full-time office-based role located in Piccadilly Circus, London, offering the opportunity to work on major development projects across the capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Design automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with current UK regulations and industry standards
- Produce sprinkler layouts, hydraulic calculations, pipework drawings, and technical documentation
- Coordinate sprinkler designs with architectural, structural, MEP, and fire engineering disciplines
- Prepare design calculations, specifications, schedules, and material take-offs
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and approval bodies where required
- Ensure all sprinkler designs comply with BS EN 12845, BS 9251, LPC Rules, and other relevant standards
- Support project teams throughout design, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Review and resolve technical design queries during construction
- Attend design coordination meetings and contribute to project planning and delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience designing sprinkler systems within the UK construction industry
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems and sprinkler design principles
- Experience producing hydraulic calculations and detailed sprinkler layouts
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with Revit and sprinkler design software is highly desirable)
- Experience working on residential, hotel, commercial, or mixed-use developments
- Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and fire safety legislation
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet programme deadlines
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable
- LPCB or equivalent industry accreditation is advantageous
