The Gower School is looking for a highly organised Communications Coordinator to join our School Administration team. You will be responsible for planning and writing a wide range of parent communications, external-facing content and marketing material – including newsletters, emails, website copy, blog posts, press releases and social media posts. We are a vibrant Montessori school community and strive to produce engaging content that highlights our unique culture.
You will work closely with the School Principal to write and produce a weekly newsletter of all relevant communications to parents, including class updates, trip information, upcoming events, and more. You will also work with our Communications and Development Officer to promote events at our Nursery and Primary School, both to current TGS families and prospective parents. Working hours: This is a part-time permanent position. You will work eight hours (with an hour-long lunch break) for three or four days per week for 48 weeks of the year. One of which must be a Friday as that is when our newsletters are sent out to the TGS community.
Start: September 2026
Starting salary: £24,000 per year (three days) or £32,000 per year (four days) dependant on qualifications and experience and will be discussed at interview stage.
Person specification:
Our ideal candidate will be a highly organised graduate, flexible and will have excellent communications and English writing skills. You will have great attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team. Graphic design knowledge (using platforms such as Canva), website management knowledge (Wordpress), social media management experience, SchoolPost management and video editing skills are highly desirable. Experience of working in schools is also highly desirable. You will hold a Degree, with GCSE passes in English and Maths (essential).
Key responsibilities:
- Producing a weekly newsletter for our Primary School and a fortnightly newsletter for our Nursery, sent out weekly on Fridays.
- Writing and uploading blog posts across our Wordpress website.
- Overseeing our general tone of voice across communications.
- Writing social media posts about school events.
- Contributing to our social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Proofreading and copyediting content for the Principal and teachers, to be sent to parents and prospective parents.
- Writing and distributing press releases to community news outlets on school achievements.
- Updating and monitoring our Google Ads campaigns for fresh copy and imagery.
- Assisting the Principal or school office with administrative tasks related to communications, marketing, and general school administration, as needed.
