Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Kingsbridge, Plymouth, Exeter
We’re growing — and we’re looking for a Project Manager who likes to make things happen.
About Us
The Play Company designs, manufactures, and installs bespoke indoor soft play equipment that creates safe, engaging environments where children can learn, explore, and make happy memories.
As a family-run business, we take pride in doing things properly. From initial concept through to installation and handover, we manage every stage in-house — working to strict industry standards while always aiming to exceed customer expectations.
With an in-house design team and UK-based manufacturing facility in Kingsbridge, we’re known for our quality, reliability, and collaborative approach. We’re now entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking for driven, capable people to grow with us.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, keeps people moving, spots problems early and gets things done.
You’ll manage projects from order through to completion, coordinating everything from design and purchasing to production, logistics, delivery and installation. You’ll be the person who knows what’s happening, what needs to happen next, and who needs to know about it.
You’ll work closely with the Operations Director and our Design, Production, Purchasing, Logistics and Installation teams, while also building strong relationships with our customers and contractors.
Ultimately, you’ll make sure every project is delivered on time, on budget, to specification and to the high standard our customers expect.
You’ll thrive in this role if you….
· Are proactive and naturally think two steps ahead
· Love a well-organised project and take pride in keeping systems and records up to date
· Are confident communicating with customers, suppliers, contractors and colleagues
· Stay calm when plans change — and good at finding the solution
· Take ownership rather than waiting to be chased
· Have a sharp eye for detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
· Care about the customer experience as much as the final product
· Enjoy being hands-on and aren’t afraid to get involved when a project needs you on site
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take ownership of multiple projects, managing them from order to installation and final handover.
Your day-to-day will include:
· Managing multiple projects across different stages, sites and timelines
· Leading the handover into delivery and taking ownership of scope, programme and budget
· Acting as the key point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders
· Creating and maintaining clear project plans, milestones and critical paths
· Coordinating Design, Purchasing, Production and Logistics to make sure everything is ready when it needs to be
· Managing contractors and installation teams to ensure work is safe, on schedule and completed to our standards
· Predominately a desk-based role, but happy to go to site when needed — whether that’s overseeing an installation, accepting a delivery or meeting a customer
· Keeping a close eye on progress, identifying risks early and putting practical solutions in place
· Keeping customers and internal teams informed with clear, regular updates
· Maintaining accurate project information and reporting within our ERP
· Keeping projects moving towards the ultimate goal: delivered brilliantly, on time and within budget
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills
· At least 3 years’ proven experience in Project Management, ideally across multiple projects and sites
· A recognised Project Management qualification
· Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills
· Experience managing schedules, budgets, risks and contractors
· Confidence working on site and coordinating complex installations
· Excellent time-management skills and attention to detail
· Experience using project-management software and Microsoft Office
· A confident, professional and customer-focused communication style
· A proactive, self-motivated approach with plenty of common sense
· A full, clean UK driving licence
· Availability Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to accommodate different time zones when required
It would be great if you also have…
· Experience using Monday.com
· Experience in design, manufacturing, installation or a related industry
· A background in managing multi-disciplinary projects, where lots of moving parts need to come together
The package
· £35,000–£40,000 per annum, depending on experience
· Company mobile phone
· IT equipment provided
· Company uniform
Benefits
· 28 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays
· Your birthday off — because nobody should have to spend their birthday answering emails
· Pension scheme
· Annual flu jab
· Healthcare
