Coastal Partners has exciting opportunities to join a busy multi-disciplinary civil engineering team, managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast. The Capital Delivery Service is looking for enthusiastic candidates to work within the Design Services Team.
Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Risk Management Service to Havant Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Gosport Borough Council, Fareham Borough Council and Chichester District Council that reduces the risks to people, and the developed and natural environment from flooding and coastal erosion. This area includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and over 246km of coastline. With several exciting large-scale civil engineering projects in our portfolio, we are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team.
As a member of Design Services, you will help to protect communities and shape our coastal landscape for future generations. Working across a variety of ground-breaking studies, design and construction projects, successful candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in all areas of the team’s work. We are particularly interested in knowledgeable candidates with experience, or interest in the below:
Design Management Team Leader
As a Team Leader within the Design Services Team, you will lead our Design Management Team, providing direction and technical expertise across the capital programme. The role includes managing a small team of Design Managers, fulfilling line management responsibilities, and leading the delivery of your own portfolio of projects.
Design Manager
Our Design Managers are responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the design process to ensure that designs are developed, reviewed and delivered on time, within budget and in compliance with project requirements, standards and regulations. They act as the key link between the client, designers, contractors and other stakeholders, managing programme, resolving technical issues and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The Design Manager also supports value engineering, change control and quality assurance activities, helping to ensure that the completed design can be efficiently constructed and operated throughout the asset's lifecycle. The Design Manager will scope, procure and manage our design partners and take on the NEC PSC Service Manager role, while supporting the Project Management and Site Supervision team with technical aspects of the project.
You will need a degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline. Applications are welcomed from experienced candidates looking to take the next step in their career. This is a career graded post with the initial salary dependent on experience and qualifications.

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)
As part of Local Government Reorganisation, current plans will see us combine with Portsmouth City Council and the district and borough councils of Fareham, Gosport and parts of East Hampshire and Winchester district councils to form a new, larger unitary authority for South East Hampshire.
