The role:
Northeastern University London is seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Women's Football Coach to lead our women's football team. This is a non-competitive social team, the focus is on participation, enjoyment and player development rather than league fixtures.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about growing women's football at grassroots level, creating a welcoming environment for players of all abilities, and helping students develop their skills and confidence on the pitch. You will work closely with the team captain, the Communities Officer and the Students' Union President.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching & Session Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive weekly training sessions suitable for players of all experience levels.
- Create a progressive coaching programme that builds technical skills, team play and player confidence over the season.
- Adapt sessions to accommodate beginners and returning players alike.
- Provide positive, constructive feedback to support individual development and enjoyment.
Team Culture & Wellbeing
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive team environment where all players feel valued regardless of ability.
- Actively support student athlete wellbeing, recognising the pressures of university life.
- Promote a culture of respect, enjoyment and participation-first football.
Club Growth & Events
- Support player recruitment at the start of the academic year, including freshers' events and taster sessions.
- Work with the SU to promote the women's football club and grow participation across the university.
- Organise and attend any friendly fixtures or internal events as appropriate.
Administration & Safeguarding
- Liaise with the Communities Officer and SU President on session planning, squad numbers and club communications.
- Maintain basic attendance records and contribute to end-of-season feedback.
- Uphold the university's safeguarding and duty-of-care obligations at all times.
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements at training venues.

Education, Qualifications and Training
- Minimum FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent NGB award) [E]
- Current First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one [D]
- Valid DBS check (Enhanced) or willingness to obtain one prior to start [E]
Experience
- Experience coaching or delivering football sessions at grassroots, community or university level [E]
- Experience working with women and girls in sport [E]
- Experience working with young adults or student athletes [D]
- Previous experience in a Students' Union or university sport environment [D]
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to plan and deliver inclusive, enjoyable sessions for mixed-ability groups [E]
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and build relationships with students [E]
- Understanding of the barriers women and girls can face in sport, and how to create a welcoming environment [E]
- Organisational reliability, consistent attendance at weekly training throughout the season [E]
- Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare [E]
- FA Level 2 or working towards it [D]
