Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and the ability to manage a busy kitchen environment effectively. The Head Chef will play a vital role in maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for exceptional cuisine and customer satisfaction.

The Halfway House is a busy, well-loved gastro pub known for great food and a warm atmosphere. We're part of Mustard Pubs, a growing group of pub sites across Yorkshire.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative ideas.
- Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to optimise efficiency.
- Train staff in proper food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and service procedures.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the kitchen.
- Assist in serving customers during busy periods as required, ensuring excellent hospitality standards.
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment.
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards.
- Experience in food production for restaurants or hospitality settings.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours.
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff.
- Passion for innovative cuisine and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
What we offer
