The Plough is a well-established, much-loved family pub in the heart of Low Bradfield. Family-owned and operated, we bring our hospitality expertise from our sister venue, The Schoolrooms, as we continue to develop The Plough into a standout gastropub.
Following a full internal refurbishment, we’ve created an even more inviting space for our loyal locals and regulars. Located on the edge of Sheffield in the beautiful village of Bradfield, within the Peak District, we are a true destination venue for families and visitors alike.
The Role
We’re looking for a confident, capable, and driven Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a menu and kitchen operation focused on top-quality ingredients, hearty classics, and elevated pub food that guests will happily travel for.
You’ll work closely with the Head Chef, playing a key role in day-to-day kitchen operations and supporting the continued development of the business.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a chef who:
- Has at least 2 years’ experience working in a professional kitchen
- Is passionate about cooking fresh, high-quality food
- Has strong knife skills and experience in high-volume service
- Is confident using a range of kitchen equipment
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and performs well under pressure
- Is a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude
- Has good communication skills and a desire to develop and progress
- A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards, with the ability to maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness at all times

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ professional kitchen experience
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (essential due to location)
