Amore Group is currently recruiting experienced Support Workers and Waking Night Support Workers to work on behalf of one of our valued clients supporting young people aged 16+ within a semi-independent living service in Sheffield.
This is an excellent opportunity for passionate and dedicated support workers who want to make a real difference in the lives of young people preparing for independent adulthood.
The service supports care leavers and young people with a range of complex needs, including:
- Mental health needs
- Challenging behaviour
- Self-harm
- Drug and alcohol misuse
- Young people at risk of child criminal exploitation (CCE), county lines and other forms of exploitation
No two days are the same, and we're looking for people who can build positive relationships, promote independence and provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can thrive.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you'll work alongside young people to help them develop the practical skills and confidence needed for independent living.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting young people to develop independent living skills.
- Assisting with healthy meal planning and shopping.
- Helping with budgeting and managing finances.
- Supporting access to education, employment and training opportunities.
- Assisting with appointments and promoting positive routines.
- Encouraging wellbeing, confidence and resilience.
- Building positive, professional relationships with young people.
- Completing accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.
- Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Working closely with managers, Social Workers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
Waking Night Support Workers
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play an essential role in ensuring young people remain safe and supported throughout the night.
Your duties will include:
- Conducting welfare checks.
- Maintaining the safety and security of the property.
- Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
- Completing accurate night records and handovers.
- Following safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Promoting a calm and reassuring environment overnight.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for individuals who are compassionate, resilient and committed to improving the lives of young people.
Ideally, you'll have experience in one or more of the following:
- Semi-independent living
- Children's residential or supported accommodation
- Leaving Care services
- Mental health support
- Drug and alcohol services
- Domestic abuse services
- Child criminal exploitation (CCE) and County Lines
- Youth work or supported housing
You'll also have:
- A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally.
- Good written and IT skills.
- A flexible approach to working shifts.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
A minimum of one year's experience in a similar support role is desirable.
Shift Patterns
We have flexible agency shifts available, including:
- Early shifts
- Late shifts
- Long day shifts
- Waking nights
- Sleep-ins (Support Workers)
- Weekdays
- Weekends
- Bank Holidays
