Overview
At Dabbawal, a great service starts with a kitchen that runs like clockwork — and our Kitchen Porters are a big part of making that happen.
We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team. You’ll work closely with our chefs to keep the kitchen clean, organised and ready for service, helping the whole team deliver the bold Indian street food and home-style dishes Dabbawal is known for.
It’s a busy, hands-on role, particularly when service is in full swing, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in doing a job properly and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
Previous kitchen experience is useful, but it’s not essential. If you have the right attitude and work ethic, we’ll show you the rest.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Keeping crockery, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment clean and ready for service.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas.
- Keeping wash-up and storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
- Supporting the chefs with basic food preparation when required.
- Helping with deliveries, stock organisation and correct storage of ingredients and supplies.
- Ensuring bins, waste and recycling are managed correctly and kitchen areas remain clear and safe.
- Following food hygiene, health & safety and cleaning procedures at all times.
- Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy services and helping wherever you’re needed.
- Taking pride in keeping the kitchen running smoothly from prep through to the end of service.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need years of experience. What matters most to us is your attitude.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, punctual and ready to work.
- Can keep up in a busy, fast-paced kitchen.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Takes pride in cleanliness and doing things properly.
- Can stay organised even when service gets busy.
- Understands the importance of hygiene and food safety.
- Is willing to learn and take direction from the kitchen team.
- Has previous kitchen or hospitality experience — helpful, but not essential.
