Schools Mutual Services is working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Dudley to recruit an enthusiastic Secondary Food Technology Teacher for a full-time position starting in September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced Food Technology Teacher looking to join a welcoming school committed to high standards of teaching, excellent pastoral care and strong student outcomes. The role is initially long-term, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract.

The Role
As a Secondary Food Technology Teacher, you'll inspire students to develop practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge and confidence in food preparation while encouraging creativity, independence and healthy lifestyles.
You will teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging practical and theory lessons that prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition qualifications where applicable.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Teaching practical food preparation, cooking techniques and nutrition
- Preparing students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition examinations where applicable
- Creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
- Assessing, monitoring and reporting on student progress
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all learners
- Supporting students with SEND, EHCPs and additional learning needs
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and health and safety during practical lessons
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Organising practical resources, ingredients and equipment effectively
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers
- Contributing to the wider life of the Design & Technology department and school community
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and student welfare
What we're looking for
We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Food Technology Teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality secondary education and developing students' practical life skills.
You should have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Food Technology within UK secondary schools or successful teaching placements
- Strong subject knowledge in Food Preparation and Nutrition
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confidence in delivering practical food technology lessons safely and effectively
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
