Overview
MH Groundworks is a growing groundwork and civil engineering company based in Helston, Cornwall. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Accounts & Administration Assistant with proven experience using Xero accounting software. This is an excellent opportunity to support our finance and administrative functions within a busy and professional office.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, able to work independently, and confident managing day-to-day accounts and office administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and administrative duties.
- Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Manage accounts payable, supplier payments and credit control.
- Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records using Xero.
- Assist with payroll, VAT and other financial administration as required.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting information when required.
- Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents and correspondence.
- Handle data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Manage emails, telephone enquiries and general office administration.
- Support the wider team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience using Xero is essential – applications without Xero experience will not be considered.
- Previous experience in an accounts and administration role.
- Experience managing accounts payable and general bookkeeping.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, proactive approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within the construction or groundworks industry.
- Knowledge of CIS, VAT returns and payroll.
- Experience with other accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks.
