Part-time flexible position is available as a Support Worker for adults experiencing mental health issues to live valued and fulfilling lives in our supported living setting in Alvaston, Derby. Our fully inclusive support and person-centred service is committed to improving the quality of life for our clients. We seek to equip them with the skills, confidence and capability to maintain an independent and healthy lifestyle, regardless of their background. We aim to enable them meet their needs and move towards an independent and positive lifestyle in their community. Full-time (37.5hours ) and a salary of £24,784.50 to 24,999.0 per annum respectively or above. The ideal candidate should be able to work 37.5 hours or above weekly to meet the needs of the service. Actual hours of work to be agreed but may include day, evening, night and weekend working. Previous candidates who did not meet requirements should not apply.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Main duties of the role: -
1. Ensure that service user rights are protected and report any health and safety issues
2. Maintain the hygiene, dignity and safeguarding of service users at all times.
3. Performs basic task such as taking service user’s temperature and weights and blood pressures
4. Assisting and supervising service users with medication administration
5. Assisting service users in washing, toiletry activities and general mobility
6. Assisting service users in preparation and serving food, snacks and hot drinks
7 . Assisting in making beds and changing bed linens
8. Motivate, prompt and prepare service users for reviews, examinations and treatments
9. Monitoring, recording and reporting issues regarding service users' mental health
10. Assisting in activities to develop and use coping strategies for low mood episodes
11. Arranging and accompanying service users to attend health, social care appointments and holidays
12. Receiving and making telephone calls for service users
13. Motivate, support and supervise service users with aspects of daily living and personal care
14. Monitoring, recording and reporting issues regarding service users ' mental health and dietary intake
15. Assisting in activities to develop and use coping strategies for low mood episodes
16. Arranging and accompanying residents to attend health, social care appointments and holidays
17. Implementing safeguarding, data protection and health and safety measure to keep service users safe from abuse
18. Liaising with members of multi-disciplinary team to implement care plan
19. Providing regular one to one discussion for emotional needs and reassurance
20. Writing and recording daily and incident logs for service users
21. Work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams so as to maximise opportunities for service user therapeutic care.
In addition to these tasks, employees may at times be asked to carry out other reasonable duties as required by the service.
Requirements:

· Experience of providing support to people living with mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting, either paid or voluntary.

Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
English proficiency test (Average 5.5 pass)
NVQ Level 2 in social care or Care Certificate training preferred
Completion of all mandatory training courses
Experience
At least one year experience in Health Care Setting preferable mental health
Skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Strong IT skills
Clear, polite telephone manner
Competent in the use of Office , Outlook and awareness of QCS systems
