Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing electrical systems on narrowboats and wide beams. This role requires a strong understanding of marine electrical systems, excellent mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with hand and power tools. Responsibilities
To install engines, electric propulsion motors and generators on narrowboats and wide beams, bow and stern thrusters ( electric and hydraulic) propeller shafts, and propellers.
Fit electric motors, pumps, hydraulic steering, gauges, winches and other mechanical and electrical/hydraulic equipment around the engine room area.
Fit inverters, converters, solar controllers, diesel heaters, plumbing. Must be confident with fitting 12V, 24V and 48V systems.
Monitor and test operations of engines and other equipment so that malfunctions and their causes can be identified prior to delivery.
Experience essential in engineering, boat engineering preferred.
- Install 12V & 240V electrical wiring and systems on narrowboats and wide beams in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to accurately complete installations and repairs.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, as well as power tools including drills to perform tasks efficiently.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects within specified timeframes and quality standards.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols to minimise risks associated with marine electrical work.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Marine Electrician or in a similar role within the marine industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to marine systems and electrical components.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with marine safety regulations, electrical codes, and industry best practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Previous experience working in challenging environments such as confined spaces or at heights is advantageous. Pay: £33,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
