A typical day in the life of a Chef:
Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes to the highest standard, ensuring consistency and quality in every plate.
Follow and adhere to recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards as directed by the Head Chef.
Innovate and contribute to menu development, including seasonal and special offerings, while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Manage and oversee kitchen operations, including the preparation and cooking of all menu items.
Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-stocked, with all equipment in good working order.
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage food waste efficiently.
Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen, including regular deep cleaning and equipment maintenance.
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and protocols, including allergen management and temperature control.
Work closely with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Assist in training and mentoring junior chefs and kitchen staff, promoting skill development and a positive work environment.
Contribute to team meetings and support a collaborative atmosphere to enhance overall kitchen performance.
Ensure that all dishes meet or exceed guest expectations in terms of taste, presentation, and portion size.
Respond to guest feedback promptly and professionally, making adjustments as needed to ensure satisfaction.
What we are looking for:
Food Safety Level 2 or 3 certification.
Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and kitchen equipment.
Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Creative flair with a passion for delivering high-quality and innovative dishes.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
It would be desirable if you had a culinary arts degree or equivalent certification and experience with menu planning and cost control.
