Job Overview
JLM Energy Ltd is seeking an experienced Commercial Electrician to join our team on a temporary full-time contract for an exciting mechanical and electrical installation project at a school in Northolt, West London.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical modifications associated with the installation of new air source heat pumps and plantroom equipment. Working alongside our mechanical installation team and site supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering the project safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This is an immediate opportunity for approximately 4–6 weeks, with the potential for further work for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Install electrical containment within plantrooms and external plant areas, including tray, basket, trunking and conduit.
- Install and modify power supplies for mechanical plant and associated equipment.
- Install isolators, armoured (SWA) cabling, glands and terminations.
- Complete electrical connections to pumps, controls and plantroom equipment.
- Carry out safe isolation and disconnection of existing electrical services.
- Assist with testing, inspection, commissioning and snagging works.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and project documentation.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers to coordinate M&E installations.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations, site RAMS and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment throughout the project.
Essential Requirements
- Current ECS or CSCS Card.
- Recognised electrical qualifications.
- Proven commercial electrical installation experience.
- Previous experience working within plantrooms.
- Experience installing containment systems including tray, basket, trunking and conduit.
- Experience with SWA cabling, glanding, terminations and isolators.
- Good understanding of safe electrical isolation procedures.
- Ability to work independently from electrical drawings and site instructions.
- Reliable, professional and safety-conscious with excellent communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- Testing & Inspection qualifications.
- Experience working with air source heat pumps, pumps, BMS controls or mechanical plant.
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
